The hottest day ....

June 24th / Orsay-Vrouwenpolder : 495 km

Jour 1

It's 8 AM, waaake up !! Everything is ready, it's time for the great start. Close the house, sit on the bike, throttle on and let's gooooo !! I sit on the bike, try to put the central stand off, but it's quite difficult because of all spaghettis in luggages. Finally it goes forward, and I suddenly remember I set up only one side case because my garage is too small, and...splash. I shoot my racing bike too, what a strike! Of course, it's impossible to lift the bike on my own, so I have to call a friend, and I feel quite....cold.

Ca commence bien

But finally someone helps me and I'm ready to go. Just a little photograph for the travel album.

Prêt à partir

And here is the official start. I don't feel really confident, I still have my morning adventure in mind, and I'm not used to ride such a loaded bike, especially in friday morning Paris traffic jams.

Time after time I leave Paris outskirts, and I'm now in Picardie country landscapes. Not dream places, but quite relaxing anyway.

Le nord !

But temperature increases hour after hour. I feel this will be a very hot day, especially wearing black leather. There is 35 °, no cloud in the sky. I drink as much as possible, but it seems it is not enough. Crossing Belgium is like a hell, you only go through little cities, with stops, traffic lights, and all things to not have air cooling. Moreover, landscapes are a bit boring (Ardennes region of Belgium is really more interesting). I cancel my Bruges visit, I don't have streght enough for that.

I enter Netherlands, riding along seaside, so, I feel a bit better. I arrive at camping place at 6 PM. I set up the tent, but I feel really bad, it seems I had not drunk enough. A quick lunch, and I fall asleep at ...7 PM
