Lofoten Islands

July 3rd / Moskenes-Garatangen: 402km

jour 10

I wake up and...there is fog all around. Not so good to enjoy beautiful landscapes. I exit camping, and I see I'm close from first city in alphabetical order in the world.

A

I go toward Reine, disappointed by fog which hides what seems to be an amazing view.

Then, still in fog, I see what is one of the local specialities : smoked cod. Believe me, it really smells bad !!

But it seems I'm definitely lucky for these holidays : sun appears and will keep with me all day (days in fact !!) long. Now I really see how this place is magic. Islands, with sea, snow, mountains, clear turquoise water ...soooo nice !

After one corner, I see an even more unexpected place : white sand beach, really turquoise water. I feel like swimming, but unfortunately water temperature in only 10 °.

Payasage de rêve

Impressive, no ?? I keep going in the same atmosphere, on the road which goes along islands. It's better than parisian highways !

Little break and a self portrait. Weather is so hot that we can see water evaporate.

petite pause

I try to stop to have a little lunch. I see one sandwhich shop 'hmm, hamburger- french fries, why not?" Because it costs 16 E !! So I choose 5 E hot dog. Scandinavian countries are really expensive, excepted for camping. Here is the "16-E-hamburger-village".

Inviation au voyage

And, so glad of such a day, I go to a camping. I see a quite nice place to set up my tent. I put the bike on side stand. Ground seems a bit soft, I look if I couldn't park the bike somewhere else. I have a look back, and I see my bike falling on the side. I try to hold her, but pff, that's difficult, and finally I save my fairing putting a knee under frame. It stops the bike, but I can't move any more. Thanks god, a norwegian guy helps me ! Thanks Ingmar ! I finally find a correct and hard enough place to spend the night.
